Weigh-in Wednesday - Hello 170's I've arrived!

I'm really sad that I only discovered shrinkingjeans.net recently! I really like the site and thought the Monday challenges look interesting. I will definitely follow along with the next challenge!

This morning the scale said 178.3lbs. I'm down 5.7lbs from last week and 33.7lbs total. Since December 30th I've lost 9.1lbs.

Last week I decided to get out of my slump, to be positive and to get back on track. And I DID IT! I like planning and structure and that is what gets me results. Last week I said I would do certain things to help me succeed:

  • Journal my food everyday(starting that Wednesday)
  • Exercise everyday
  • Be positive
  • Read blogs that inspire me
  • Make healthy choices

And sure enough Wednesday I started journalling and I did all of the above every single day this week, and because of it I succeeded, I lost 5.7lbs! In my food journal I had the above list pasted under each day of the week so that I could check off all the points everyday, and I did. Here are some highlights from my week:

Wed Feb 3 - I started journalling, re-organized my food list, looked up nutritional information for new foods, for all fast food restaurants (was a bit disgusted with myself for things I've eaten without thinking). I started reading at least 1 blog everyday that inspired me to keep on track.

Thurs Feb 4 - I'm down half a pound! Today I started using a pedometer. I always run errands on Thursdays when Caleb is at daycare, today I ate breakfast and lunch at home, and did my exercise in the morning so that I wouldn't be tempted to eat out. I also had cookies from Tim Hortons but I kept them in my calorie count for the day.

Fri Feb 5 - I'm down 1.8lbs, woot! I started flossing again, today. We had Subway for dinner and I worked out my calories in advance so I knew exactly what to order. Chose healthy snacks again today.

Sat Feb 6 - I'm down 2.2lbs! Planned out meals/calories early in the day, chose healthy snack after workout. I had vodka and cranberry at night and included it in my calorie count.

Sun Feb 7 - I'm down 2.6lbs! (.4 a day so far). I went for a run today for the first time in three weeks. It felt amazing. I have been dealing with some major going-back-to-work-soon stress and so I needed to get out and de-stress! I hit 10000 steps on the pedometer. When we went out during the day I brought an apple with me so I wouldn't get hungry and want to get fast food.

Mon Feb 8 - I'm down 2.7lbs! My parents planned on taking us out for dinner, I looked up all the info and planned out my calories and exactly what I would order. At the last minute my mom changed her mind and we went to a different restaurant where I had no clue about any healthy choices available. I ended up choosing as best I could, and looked up my calories, carbs and fat when I got home.

Tues Feb 9 - I planned dinner in the morning, worked out my days calories in advance so I knew exactly what to eat all day.

Journalling everyday really works for me. I did it everyday, wrote down every single thing I ate, usually at the beginning of the day so I knew what snacks to eat and I just ate what was in my daily allowance. I also really focused on being positive. I've been really stressed out the last couple of weeks and I chose to be positive and look on the bright side of things, and that has really helped to lift me up! And reading a couple of blogs everyday really made a difference. Because I could see other people succeeding and knowing that if I just keep at it, I will be successful too.

What I've really been working on since starting my journey last year, is thinking about what I'm putting into my body, and this week I've really improved on that. I count calories, carbs and fat and it's working really well for me.

As for Fitness February, I have worked out every day of the month so far! I think deciding to do Fitness February has kept me on track. A few days I was really exhausted and I said I have to workout, get moving because I have committed to doing this!

Overall it has been an amazing week for me. I'm looking ahead to my halfway goal of 36lbs lost which is only 2.3lbs away! And now I'm going to try on some old jeans (that are practically brand new because I "grew out of them") to see if they fit me! I have a whole wardrobe of clothes waiting to be worn!

Keep shrinking! :)

Christine

  4. that's is exactly right! i have to say, it was quite an eye opener when i looked up nutritional information for restaurants and fast food (the burrito places?? wahhhh!!!) i have even found myself completely avoiding the places that refuse to publish their nutritional info on account of personal protest! i think everyone should publish it! there are very few people who can get by without counting calories! anyhoo, congrats on finding out what works! that's what rethinking our shrinking was meant to accomplish!! i hope you're sticking with us for the next challenge, pretty please!!

I love your daily details, too! Planning ahead is always key, and I tend to do so much better when everything is already set. Definitely leads to less snacking and cheating!

Christie you know what I totally agree with you on the restaurants! I think I will be doing the same and boycotting restaurants that don't publish the info, because then I really can't calculate my calories and what's the point!
